The Most Stylish Chalets in the Alps – Hand-Picked by The Chalet Edit

We all like the finer things in life, and there is no reason that should be compromised when on a luxury ski holiday. Well-seasoned skiers have grown tired of five-star hotels and want to stay in exclusive, modern and sleek ski chalets that offer unique style and décor that wouldn’t look out of place in New York, Paris or Milan, let alone the Alps.

Over the last few years, luxury ski chalets have evolved to become more unique, more stylish and more fashionable than ever. From traditional wooden chalets to modern apartments of glass and steel, the range of luxury chalet options is growing year after year.

We’ve partnered up with The Chalet Edit, a luxury ski chalet specialist who takes the hassle out of finding your dream chalet by providing a full in-house concierge service from start to finish. Organising everything from ski school, transfers and in-resort childcare to excursions and activities.  They have selected ‘The Most Stylish Chalets in the Alps’ – and the best part is, all of these jaw-dropping chalets can be rented through The Chalet Edit.

Chalet Joux Plane, Morzine – From the moment you first arrive, Chalet Joux Plane ‘wows’ you with its contemporary architecture and cutting-edge design. Designed by Herve Marullaz, a local architect with an impressive reputation, it is no surprise that Joux Plane is one of the finest mountain retreats. Constructed into its mountain-top location, this luxury chalet is a true James Bond-style home. One end of the chalet is made almost entirely from glass and the middle of the chalet is dissected top to bottom by a glass atrium, giving natural light to every floor and space. Truly extraordinary is the 23-metre swimming pool which passes right through the building itself, allowing guests to swim both inside and out, further emphasising the in-out living experience envisioned by the architect. And not forgetting the private underground art gallery leading you from the boot room via the bar & games room into the vaulted living area, right underneath the glass atrium.

Shemshak Lodge, Courchevel 1850 – On the outside, Shemshak Lodge paints the picture of a perfect French chalet with traditional design and timeless elegance cloaked in a carpet of white. Step inside and you have an access to unparallel luxury. This luxury chalet is Alpine chic at its best, with furnishings and materials brought together by a top London interior designer. The double-height living area provides a stylish space in which to relax. This is a space that combines tradition with modernity, the pastel colours of the fabrics and the warm tones of the woodwork, all work to create a luxurious yet welcoming atmosphere, drawn together by the magnificent contemporary fireplace. The most impressive part is that there is an entire floor dedicated to wellness and relaxation. It has a huge indoor swimming pool with unparalleled panoramic views across the valley, plus a sauna, massage room, Jacuzzi, hammam and a state-of-the-art gym.

Chalet Zermatt Peak, Zermatt – is the current winner of the ‘World’s Best Ski Chalet’, awarded for its mix of architecture, location, food and level of service. Arguably the most prestigious award of them all, Chalet Zermatt Peak is lavish luxury at its finest. With breathtaking views of the Matterhorn and perched centrally above the enchanting village of Zermatt, Chalet Zermatt Peak pays homage to architectural design and luxury. The privately-run chalet is spaciously laid out over six opulent floors, starting with the candlelit entrance which is tunnelled into the rock. Unique touches can be seen throughout, such as the living room which features an Ergonomic De Sede moving sofa, so you can take advantage of all aspects of the living space, not to mention the breathtaking views. And then there are the handmade Murano crystal chandeliers which bring luxuriousness and drama to the sculptural lines of the living area, as well as the designer hand-carved waterfall feature and the astonishing spa which can be opened up to encompass the terrace.

Chalet Calima, Verbier – Calima is a truly world-class chalet.  This beautiful home has been designed, constructed and finished with utmost care and this is evident in the detail throughout. Stunning stone walls are juxtaposed with graceful wooden floors creating an alpine home that is chic and timeless. Our favourite place is the living area with a wonderful wood-burning fireplace built into a marble column, ensuring a snug and cosy ambience. On the ground level, you’ll find the beautiful indoor swimming pool with a moveable floor, which raises and lowers, plus an indoor and outdoor hot tub.
