A 4 bedroom penthouse apartment in Alpe d’Huez

Project Date:

November 2021

Project Brief:

The clients were keen to create a home from home where they could escape their busy London lives and enjoy the mountains. The penthouse benefitted from high vaulted ceilings and large panoramic windows. The clients wanted a contemporary look that maintained a hint of traditional Alpine décor in terms of the colours and accessories.

Thoughts from the Team

The planning for this project started in September 2020 and turned out to be a lovely distraction from Covid lockdowns. Unfortunately, the pandemic did cause a few delays to the construction of the building which in turn, had a knock-on effect in terms of the design phase. The end result, however, was a beautiful, thoughtfully created chalet that felt very personal to the clients. The contemporary lighting that we selected together was the star of the show. The day of installation was one to remember. The dining table was so large that it could not get to the penthouse through the building. The Chalet Shop installation team called upon various local contacts to find a solution and ultimately, the table was hoisted up to the top floor, over the balcony using ropes and a clever pulley system masterminded by a local climber who specialises in exactly this kind of work. It was a sight to behold!
